Our Commitment to Water Quality

Columbus provides a variety of services to protect both surface & drinking water quality. We work with communities upstream to help reduce the impact of agricultural activities. In our own community, we partner with landowners adjacent to our reservoirs and monitor construction sites to limit sedimentation that can impact local waterways. We also protect the quality of life downstream by discharging clean water from our wastewater treatment plants.

Hydrant Flushing Season

Can Cause Low Pressure, Rusty Water
Check the schedule to see if hydrants are being flushed in your area & learn what to do if you are experiencing rusty water. Columbus Fire flushes daily, late April - July. Other municipalities run through October.

Consumer Confidence Report (CCR)

Public Utilities' customers can consume their water with confidence, knowing it meets ALL of the requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA). Read more about: annual water quality report, rigorous testing performed daily, common water quality concerns...

Cost of Filling a Swimming Pool

Memorial weekend typically marks the pool filling season; check the chart to see how much it will cost to fill your swimming pool. A list of water haulers is also provided.

Also learn about: Auxillary Meters (which measure outdoor water use & save money on your bill) & Backflow requirements.

ATTN: Pet Owners

Due to an increase in dog bites this year, you may be asked to secure your pet when our utility workers come to your home. Restraining your pets protects them & our staff.
