Take a video tour of
Southerly Wastewater Treatment Plant and learn how
wastewater is treated. Southerly is the larger of Columbus'
two wastewater treatment plants. It has the capacity to
treat 114 million gallons per day, or the equivalent
capacity of two million people.
Wastewater flows through the
underground sewer system from the northeastern and eastern
sections of Franklin County to Southerly, where pollutants
are removed and clean water is discharged into the Scioto
River. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency closely
monitors the treatment process to ensure that the water
going into our river is clean. |
