Flood
Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) have been issued by the
Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA).
FIRMs are used by mortgage and insurance companies to determine
whether a property is in a floodplain, and subject to flood insurance
requirements. The maps delineate a "Zone X" that is
not subject flood insurance requirements.
Most properties within the
2800-acre project area changed to Zone X; however, there are a few
properties in very low lying areas that are still vulnerable to localized flooding.
These areas are designated as
Special Flood
Hazard Area (SPFA) Zone A (see
map here).
The Zone A designation
is used for some areas that may be susceptible to flooding that is separate from the Scioto River
flood risk or the operation of the floodwall.
If you have
received disaster assistance for flood damage or if you receive a loan
from a federally regulated lender, you may be required to purchase and maintain
a flood insurance policy.
If you have any questions, please call the National Flood Insurance
Program at (888) FLOOD-29 for further information.
