Division of Power and Water
Rick Westerfield, P.E., PhD, Administrator
Formerly two separate divisions, the services of electricity
and water were combined in 2006 for greater efficiency and
include:
- Customer service including the department’s call center,
public payment office, meter reading, repair, and inspections
- Water treatment and distribution to Columbus
residents and contracting communities through three
water treatment plants (the Dublin Road, Hap Cremean and
Parsons Avenue Water Treatment Plants)
- Maintenance of the water and electric distribution
systems, plants and other related infrastructure
- A capital improvements program to upgrade
infrastructure and ensure adequate water and electric
supplies
- Water source protection programs, regulatory
compliance and water quality monitoring
- Competitively priced electricity services to our
power customers
- A street lighting program to light Columbus streets
for safer neighborhoods
Division of Sewerage and Drainage
Dax J. Blake, P.E., Administrator
Services include:
- Wastewater collection and treatment for the City
of Columbus and contracting communities through two
wastewater treatment plants (Jackson Pike and
Southerly)
- Maintenance of the storm, sanitary and combined
sewer collection systems, treatment plants and other
related infrastructure
- A capital improvement program to upgrade
infrastructure and solve neighborhood flooding
issues
- Stormwater management, industrial pre-treatment
and regulatory compliance programs to protect
surface water quality
- Operational support for informational technology such as
computer, GIS/mapping systems and damage prevention (utility
line location)
- DOSD also operates a Compost Facility, where the
popular Com-Til product is available for purchase
